A Bit About Us

Working Towards a Better Tomorrow

Here at Project Tumaini, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings in 2020, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Non-Profit Organization upon: support, empowerment, and progress. Learn more about our mission, our vision, and how we go about making the changes we want to see.

Mission

Here at Project Tumaini, we are driven by a single goal; to invest in the lives of children and youth by partnering with local Kenyan pastors to provide resources for them to succeed and empower them to make lasting changes in their lives.

In 2010, I went on my first mission trip to Kenya. I loved the country and people, and the experience was life changing. The following years I went on mission and humanitarian trips to Liberia and Jamaica but desired to go back to Kenya. In 2014 I returned to Kenya with a humanitarian group and continued to travel with them through 2018. With my passion to work with Kenyan children and youth, I decided it was time to shift my focus to building a ministry dedicated to that purpose.

In 2018, I began brainstorming what a ministry would look like in Kenya and ended the year with a vision-planning trip. During this trip, I was introduced to a pastor in Nairobi who had a passion for outreach in a slum area. I was intrigued and thought this might be the partnership I needed. Through much prayer during 2019, I kept on sensing this was the right place to start. I met with the pastor and his wife in October 2019 and this is when Project Tumaini went from being a vision to a reality. While the COVID pandemic has shifted our initial projects, I am proud of what we have done so far and look forward to upcoming initiatives.
